Contrary to what one may think, continental breakfast is taken by only 34% of the French. This is principally made up of a hot drink, and bread/toast and butter, and is above all the domain of the over 45’s. Next comes the breakfast ‘of childhood’ with 27%, which includes drinking chocolate, milk, cereals and breakfast pastries. 20% are happy with a hot drink, 12% take a balanced breakfast with water, dairy products, cereals and fruits, 7% consume breakfast pastries, and finally, 6%, mostly women, don’t take breakfast at all.
Breakfast remains, for the majority of the French, ‘toast/croissant/coffee’, far from the ideal breakfast, especially considering the fat content!
On average, 9 clients out of 10 take breakfast when they stay in a hotel, which shows a big change in eating habits. Contrary to breakfast at home, it is considered essential and is appreciated. It is part of the hotel service and, as such, must be of a high standard. At the hotel, buffet breakfast is more and more common. It first appeared in the 70’s, but buffet style breakfast is still less common in France than abroad. However, it is the breakfast you enjoy the most, as it gives the most choice, and the freedom to serve yourself with as much as you want! And you’re right, as breakfast is a pleasure you should not miss! 84% of clients say they are satisfied or very satisfied with breakfast.
And you ? Are you satisfied with the breakfast served in our P'tit Dej-HOTEL establishments?
